Traditionally, Mexican bark paintings are made from the bark of wild mulberry or fig trees. They are characterized by their bright colors and intricate patterns. Get inspired by Mexican folk art, and create brightly colored bark paintings of flowers, birds and wildlife.

Challenge: Create a tiny diorama with a 3D uplifting illustration.

This technique combined dried glue outlines – which gives a little structure – to bold and bright chalk pastel colors!

Using balloons and Papier Mache, Makers created an artifact that resembled a decorated gourd. This process mimics Calabash art – an artform that produces spectacular pieces using dried out gourds.
