How to participate:
★ Sign up at a kick-off party, or register at any point after June 23 to start the challenge!
Participate in the challenge digitally on the Beanstack app and the Library’s Beanstack site, OR with a paper log, which will be available at all library locations and online to print on-demand.
- Children & Teens: Receive a free book* of your choice when you sign up for Summer Reading
- Adults: Receive a free summer fan* when you sign up for Summer Reading, and a free book if you attend the Ice Cream Social
★ Read as much as you can this summer and log how much you read!
- Children & Teens: Record the number of minutes you read each day and add up the minutes you read each week. Visit the Library to get a sticker for reading any amount, but ‘Level Up’ your prize* by reading at least 100 minutes per week! Youth may collect their weekly prizes during that week or at any time during the summer, but we encourage you to visit each week to pick up their prizes while supplies last.
- Adults: Record the number of minutes you read each day and add up the minutes you read each week. Read something every week to earn your completion prize in August!
★ Engage with the Library for more ways to connect with community and win prizes!
- Enjoy free, fun activities for all ages, all summer long, and visit your nearest library location any day to get a take-and-make activity, do a drop-in craft, or participate in a scavenger hunt!
- With our “Visit to Win” raffle, children, teens, and adults can earn one raffle ticket per person, per day when you visit a Springfield City Library location or attend a library event during the 2025 Summer Reading Challenge (June 23 – August 23). Enter to win the raffle of your choice, which feature prizes and gift cards from local businesses.
- Get in the competitive spirit and go for the “Most Read” title in each age group. We’ll announce the “Most Read Child,” “Most Read Teen”, and “Most Read Adult” winners, as well as the total number of minutes we read as a community, at the End of Summer Celebration on August 23 at Marshal Roy Park.
- Download the beanstack app to earn special “Level Up” badges for every 500 minutes you read, up to 10,000 minutes.

Let’s celebrate a summer of reading and learning together in Springfield! Join us and our community partners at the open End of Summer Celebration at Marshall Roy Park (162 El Paso St.) for lawn games, arts and crafts, food, and community connection for all ages.
To end our Summer Reading Challenge, we’ll announce how many minutes we read as a community and recognize our top readers. Don’t miss this fun, free event to close out the summer!
