A free books-by-mail program from the Springfield City Library for homebound and disabled citizens.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

What is Library in Your Mailbox?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The Library in Your Mailbox service provides library materials to patrons who are unable to come to the library. Participants receive library materials mailed to their homes for free.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Who is eligible?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

To be eligible for the service, a patron must be a Springfield resident, have or be eligible for a Springfield City Library card, and be unable to visit our library locations in person or for whom getting to the library is difficult. This service is for individuals generally confined to their residence either temporarily (due to illness or injury) or permanently (due to age, disability, or other mobility reasons). <\/p>\n\n\n\n

How do I sign up?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Complete the registration form online (lower on this page) or send a completed paper form<\/a> to the Central Library.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Can I request other items besides books?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Yes! You can request all different types of items: books (large print and regular print), books on CD, playaways, magazines, CDs, and DVDs. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

How many items can I receive at once and how long can I keep them?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

You can request up to five items at one time. The total loan period is 4 weeks from the date the materials were delivered to you from the library. When the items are returned, you will be sent a new selection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How do I receive items that interest me?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Every Library in Your Mailbox patron fills out an interest form that tells their selector what they are interested in getting. Based on this profile, a librarian will select items for you. The selector may contact you for additional information to ensure that you are satisfied with your selections. You will receive a feedback form each month, so you can change your choices, request specific titles, and let your selector know what you think!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
