Donna’s art focuses on the human condition such as courage or hope, love, unity, and relationships. She is dedicated to world peace, and works to produce art that touches people’s lives. Technically, she works with acrylic and collage, but she feels her work is more about Buddhist spirituality involving such disciplines as listening and letting go. Her display this season includes original art of words with images. All ages.

José Gonzalez and his sons Ahmed and Rene return for a thrilling performance of their unique, Latin-fused music. With jazz, rock, classical, and pop influences this trio delivers an eclectic mix of Puerto Rican sounds that has earned them a passionate following throughout the area.

Celebrate the art and artists of two newly commissioned art projects in this free public reception.

The Springfield Cultural District will reveal the winners of Uplifting, their exciting elevator art project, and Art Central will unveil Color and Light, a new collection of art works created by Artists of Springfield MA.

Representatives from both groups will offer brief presentations of their inspired work, and the featured artists will be on hand to meet the public. Free refreshments are available to all who stay for the unveiling.

The artists of Color and Light are Mary Blaxland, Ellen Pollock, José Gamaliel Crespo Rosado, and Wanda Dávila; and the winning artists for Uplifting are Joy Smith, Mariela Chavez, and Ryan Murray.

Artists of Springfield MA presents “Color and Light,” a show of original works by four artists living, working, or contributing to the arts community in Springfield. Participating artists include illustrator Mary Blaxland, painters Ellen Pollock and José Gamaliel Crespo Rosado, and photographer Wanda Dávila.

Included in the display will be the original artwork used to produce Springfield artist notecards, a continuous project that serves to raise the visibility of Springfield artists and promote Springfield’s artist community to the rest of the region. Brought to Springfield by the Guatemala Art & Culture Connection, A Mayan Tapestry reflects the life and customs of Mayan life, one of the America’s greatest ancient cultures. With its diversity, boldness, and magic-like wonderment, A Mayan Tapestry catches the eye with powerful creativity and unusual beauty. All ages.
