So far, I have attended two discussion groups (I was the coordinator of one, and an attendee in the other). Both were within walking distance of my house. I met four new people at one and eight new people at the other. WoW!!! What an incredible project this is! You can meet people who you might never talk to -- all because you read the same book and the book moved you enough to want to talk about it with other people. I hope I can attend more discussion groups and meet more people who have read this one book. What a great way to build community in our city. E.W., Downtown I read this book a couple of years ago on the recommendation of my son. It is a wonderful book. Good choice. I will try to attend one of the groups and would love to see James McBride. We read this in our book group about 3 years ago. Everybody loved it; what's not to like. I know of a boy as young as 10 who is reading this book now. I wish parents were always able to be truthful to their children about the past. Kids are very perceptive and will suspect and be curious about stuff anyway. Anonymous
