Big Event Celebrates Library’s Annual Reading Club

Every year, the Springfield City Library hosts a Summer Reading Club, complete with a big event to start it off with a bang. This year, the kickoff bash will be held on Saturday, June 24th from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. at the Mason Square Branch Library.
The free event celebrates the beginning of the Summer Reading Club, a yearly library program through which people may earn prizes just by reading. The Summer Reading Club is open to all ages, infant through adult; anyone may join starting on June 12th, 2017. Prizes include new books, passes to Interskate 91, toys, STEM kits, gift cards, gift baskets, and more.
The Kickoff event feature music, crafts, and food, including delicious frozen yogurt from GoBerry. The Mason Square Branch Library is located at 756 State Street in Springfield.
The Springfield City Library Summer Reading Club and www.ReadsinMA.org are supported by your local library, the Friends of the Springfield Library, the Massachusetts Library System, Western Massachusetts Library Advocates, and the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners and the Boston Bruins, with funding from the Institute of Museums and Library Services. The Summer Reading Club is also funded in part by the Irene E. and George A. Davis Foundation.
