Dates: Monday, June 13 through Saturday, August 27

Infants, Toddlers, and Pre-readers:
Pick up a tracking sheet from any Springfield City Library location. Every time you read your child a book, mark off one of the sections on the tracking sheet. After you have read seven books together, return the sheet to any Springfield City Library location and choose a prize book! Yes, we even have board books especially for babies and toddlers!

Readers in grades K-5:
On your mark, get set, READ your way to a wonderful summer. Join the Springfield City Library’s Summer Reading Club for Kids, 4-14 years old. Visit your library branch to get your first reading log or join the library’s On Your Mark, Get Set, Read! Online Reading Club. Be a winner! Read to earn books and prizes, solve the scavenger hunts, make crafts and attend library programs. Readers finish first!


Teen Readers

Dates: Monday, June 13 through Saturday, August 27

Register for the Get in the Game! Online Reading Club at any Springfield City Library or from home starting June 13! Earn rewards for reading books and completing special challenges, such as scavenger hunts, book reviews, attending library programs, visiting museums and more.

Go to Get in the Game, register, and start logging books. (The last day to log books is Saturday, August 27, 2016.)

  • Read 1 book: Pick up your ticket for the Roller Skating Party at Interskate 91 in Wilbraham on August 8, 6:00-8:00 p.m. (It’s good for your whole family. Rent your skates or bring your own.)
  • Read 5 books: We’ll order any book you’d like, up to a list price of $12.99.
  • Read 10 books: Choose a second book, or combine your prizes for one book up to $25.98 list price.
  • Complete Challenges: Boost your chances of winning a gift certificate or the grand prize, a Samsung tablet, by completing weekly challenges from scavenger hunts and book reviews to attending library programs and visiting museums. Visiting your library counts as a weekly challenge and earns you more chances in the prize drawing. Teen programs are happening all summer long — visit your branch library for great reading, learning and fun with friends old and new!

Adult Readers

The Adult Summer Reading Club will run from Saturday, June 18 through Thursday, August 18.

Exercise Your Mind in the Adult Summer Reading Club! Read a book, write a review, and earn a chance to win one of eighteen raffle drawings throughout the summer. Reviews can be submitted at any library location, just ask a librarian for a review card. If you prefer email, send your 2-3 sentence book review to the reference librarians at Prizes include eighteen gift cards valued at $25 each to local retailers, and two grand prizes (first and second place) of Kindle ereaders, awarded at the Finale.

There will be three social events for club members, one each month. Stop by and join in on the fun.

  • Ice Cream Social: Tuesday, June 21st, 6:30-7:30 p.m. at the Brightwood Branch Library
  • Jeopardy Game and Potluck: Thursday, July 14th 6-8 p.m., Mason Square Branch Library
  • Finale: Tuesday, August 23rd, 6-8 p.m. at the Brightwood Branch Library

As a special bonus, three library branches will host weekly or bi-weekly Walkabouts in their neighborhoods giving you a chance to exercise and meet other readers. Hosting branch libraries include Brightwood, East Forest Park, and Indian Orchard. Exercise Your Mind with chess or Scrabble games scheduled with librarian Matthew Jaquith, 263-6828, ext. 221.
