Dates: Tuesday, January 17 through Friday, February 24

Infants, Toddlers, and Pre-readers:
Pick up a tracking sheet from any Springfield City Library location. Every time you read your child a book, mark off one of the sections on the tracking sheet. After you have read seven books together, return the sheet to any Springfield City Library location and choose a prize book! Yes, we even have board books especially for babies and toddlers!

Grades K-5 and Independent Readers:

Reading Robots: Take Me To Your Reader! Join the Springfield City Library’s Winter Reading Club for Kids in Grades K-5 who are independent readers. Visit the library to get your first Reading Robot reading log. Read to earn prizes, and get raffle tickets to win a LEGO Academy Building Set. Read On!

Branch libraries will be offering robot-inspired activities during Winter Reading Club. Contact your branch for more information.

Brightwood: Help build a library Reading Robot out of recycled materials. We’ll be adding to it every week, so come join the fun! From January 17-February 24 during open hours.

Teen Readers

Dates: Tuesday, January 17 through Friday, February 24

Teens, join the Teen Winter Reading Club and broaden your horizons by participating in comics author Gene Luen Yang’s Reading Without Walls Challenge. Share your reading and earn chances at a gift certificate prize!

Participate by Reading Without Walls:

Read a book about a character who doesn’t look or live like you.
Diversity comes in many forms: race, religion, gender, geography, sexual orientation, class, ability, and more.

Read a book about a topic you don’t know much about.
Explore your world with a science book, historical fiction and more.

Read a book in a format that you don’t normally read for fun.
A picture book – A chapter book
A graphic novel – A book in verse.

Earn a raffle ticket by:

Filling out a shelf- talker
Log and rate your books on these easy forms and we will post them among the Young Adult books in your branch.

Writing a book review
Not too long and not too short.

Coming to a Winter Reading Club Program
Book groups, crafts, games and more.

Posting a picture of your favorite book on social media
Make sure to tag Springfield City Library along with the hashtag #SpringfieldReadsWithoutWalls.

Adult Readers

Dates: Tuesday, January 17 through Friday, February 24

Read a book, write a review, and earn a chance to win one of nine raffle drawings throughout this winter. Reviews can be submitted at any library location, just ask a librarian for a review sheet. If you prefer email, send your 2-3 sentence book review to the reference librarians at askalibrarian@springfieldlibrary.org. Prizes include nine gift cards valued at $30 each to Stop & Shop.
