Did you know…that the most critical period of vocabulary development occurs between birth and age 3? Everyone knows that the children who start Kindergarten with the largest vocabularies have the easiest time learning to read and stay in school the longest, but not everyone knows that most of the foundation for success is laid BEFORE the age of 3. Bringing your child to storytime is more than just fun–it’s brain building!
Storytimes are available at many of of our branches this spring. Here is the schedule:
Drop-in Craft – Daily, during all open hours, Children’s Room
Check the sign by the door for a sample, then pick up your materials at the desk. Just add imagination!

Join us for stories and a craft. Perfect for ages 3-10, siblings are welcome! No registration required.
Special Edition! Saturdays, March 21 – April 18, 1:30pm
Five weeks only! Join us for our usual storytime fun, plus create some extra-special projects made possible by a grant from Home City Families! Special guidelines apply for this five-week series: adults and children must stay together during the entire program. Families must be on time in order to participate. No registration is required but space is very limited. Don’t miss out!

Fun with Junie B. Jones!
Mondays, 5:30 p.m., March 23 – May 4, students in Kindergarten – grade 4, Children’s Program Room
Let’s spend some time with beloved chapter book character Junie B. Jones! We’ll read about her ups and downs as she navigates the school bus, friends, teachers and much more. Junie B. loves an exciting project, so we’ll finish off with an educational game or craft. Participants will also be given a weekly activity packet for home use. For children in grades K – 4. Parents welcome to attend!
Children’s Bilingual Story Club
Wednesdays, 1:30 p.m., January 7 – May 27, ages 1-4
HELLO! HOLA! Would your children like to join our young bilingual story club, English-Spanish? We’ll be meeting on Wednesdays from 1:30 pm – 2:30 pm. Bring your little ones to the library to sing, dance, play and meet new friends. Best of all participants will have the opportunity to listen to some very good stories! This one hour program is appropriate for children 1 – 4 years old, accompanied by a parent or caregiver. Please call 413-263-6805 to sign up. See you at the library!
HOLA! HELLO! Le gustaria que sus niños participen en el Club de lectura bilingue, English-Español?. Vamos a reunirnos los Miercoles de 1:30 – 2:30 pm. Traiga a sus niñitos a la biblioteca a cantar, bailar, jugar y conocer nuevos amiguitos. Lo mas importante es que los participantes tendran la oportunidad de escuchara cuentos muy buenos. Fun Fridays Storytime

We will read stories, sing songs, and eat a healthy snack. A fun, social experience for all! No registration required.

Music and Movement Storytime

Ready, Sit, Read!

We encourage 3-5 year olds (siblings too!) with a parent/caregiver to come in and enjoy seasonal rhymes, songs, finger plays, book-based activities, and – as always – the best in children’s books! Dads and Kids Book Club
Saturdays, 10:30 a.m., January 10, February 14, March 14, April 11, May 9, 2.9-5 years, siblings welcome
Help your children develop a love of reading by joining the Dads and Kids Book Club! Designed for preschool children ages 2.9-5 years old (siblings welcome), the Dads and Kids Book Club will provide opportunities for fathers/father-figures to help their children develop a love of reading. Once a month, children will be introduced to books with a storytime, an arts and craft activity, a snack, and time for dads to meet other dads.
