Did you know…that the most critical period of vocabulary development occurs between birth and age 3? Everyone knows that the children who start Kindergarten with the largest vocabularies have the easiest time learning to read and stay in school the longest, but not everyone knows that most of the foundation for success is laid BEFORE the age of 3. Bringing your child to storytime is more than just fun–it’s brain building!

Storytimes are available this spring! Here is the schedule:

Central Library

Drop-in Craft – Daily, during all open hours, Children’s Room
Check the sign by the door for a sample, then pick up your materials at the desk. Just add imagination! Ages 3-12.

Family Storytime
Saturdays, 1:30 pm. (except September 24). Ongoing in the Children’s Program Room.

Join us for stories, songs, and a craft. Perfect for ages 3-10, siblings are welcome! No registration required.


Brightwood Branch

Bilingual Storytime at Brightwood, Wednesdays, September 14 – December 14, 1:30-2:30 p.m., Community Room.
Join us for stories, songs, movement, fingerplays, a craft, and playtime. No registration required. Adult must accompany children. Space is limited to 12. Presented in collaboration with Home City Families. Ages 12 months-6 years, siblings welcome.
