September Brings Talented Authors to Springfield Libraries

Libraries Host Events Showcasing Local Writers

The Springfield City Library is thrilled to host a large number of authors this month. On September 17th from 12:30-3:30 PM the Central Library will host its annual Author Fair, which features talented local and Massachusetts-based authors. The authors will be on hand to discuss their books and their writing, and to sign copies of their novels, nonfiction works, poetry collections, and children’s books. The Central Library is located at 220 State Street. A full listing of featured authors and genres can be found here.

On September 20th from 6:30-7:30 PM, the Sixteen Acres Branch Library will host Patricia Martin, author of The Other Couch: Discovering Women’s Wisdom in Therapy, for a book discussion and signing. Martin, an experienced therapist, focuses on topics such as abusive relationships, cheating spouses, addicted children, death of loved ones, transgender issues, and more. Refreshments will follow the book signing, compliments of the Friends of the Library. The Sixteen Acres Branch Library is located at 1187 Parker Street.

On September 24th from 12-2 PM, the East Springfield Branch Library will host Kate Anderson, author of the mystery novel Hospital Hill, which is set in the Northampton State Hospital. Ms. Anderson’s talk will include a slideshow of historic Northampton State Hospital pictures and collection of related artifacts. Refreshments will follow the book signing, compliments of the Friends of the Library. The East Springfield Branch Library is located at 21 Osborne Terrace.
