Library, Elections Office co-sponsor civic engagement event
Springfield City Library will offer Springfield residents an opportunity to meet the candidates for Mayor and City Council. Those attending can bring their concerns, ask questions and hear directly from candidates at the free event to take place at the Central Library, 220 State Street, Springfield on Monday, August 24 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. While at the library that evening, people can also check their voter status, find out where their polling place is and register to vote.
“Partnering with City of Springfield Election Commissioner Gladys Oyola means that this event gives residents a chance to learn about the races and the candidates, and if necessary, register to vote at the same time,” said library manager Jean Canosa Albano. Nearly all candidates for Mayor and City Council have confirmed their attendance. If you are working on a campaign and haven’t responded yet or missed the invitation, please contact Jean at 413-263-6828, ext. 291.
