The digital age is dawning! Enjoy it with the conveniences of ereading.

The Springfield City Library has twenty Sony eReaders available for loan to Springfield residents. The ereaders, which can be borrowed at any of the library’s locations by residents aged eighteen years or older, feature a broad range of adult popular fiction, and new nonfiction titles. Ereaders boast many conveniences including resizable font for easy enlarging, the ability to add notes, bookmark pages, and a choice of over 20 titles on each device. Please ask any reference librarian for assistance.

Senior citizens (aged 55 and up) can choose from four different content profiles. These ereaders are made available through a partnership with the Springfield Department of Elder Affairs. All other residents aged eighteen or older can choose from two different content profiles. Please check our online catalog for listings of which titles are available on each machine; a simple keyword search for “ereader sony” will bring up the four different records.

Patrons who want to borrow an ereader must reside in Springfield, have an active C/WMARS library card with no billed items, and overdue fines should total less than ten dollars. Each borrower must sign a Borrower’s Agreement before checking out an ereader, copies of which are linked below:
