Update: March 10, 2011

Grand Re-Opening Celebration Scheduled for April 13 - 15!

Temporarily Closing for Renovations March 21-April 12

Mason Square Branch Library renovations will necessitate temporarily closing the library from March 21-April 12. Delivery and installation of furniture, shelving, a telephone system, and computers, plus moving all materials into the larger library space, and Community Room renovations must be completed at this time. During these weeks patrons may continue to use the book drop, located in the front (or State Street) parking lot of the branch. Please visit one of our other Springfield City Library locations to check out books, DVDs, music and other materials!

Closest branches are the Central Library, 220 State Street, about one mile west; and the Pine Point Branch Library, 204 Boston Road, two miles east. You may refer to our library website for all branch locations and hours plus upcoming events. For additional information please call Janet Stupak at (413) 263-6828, ext. 422.

Update: February 19, 2011

Mason SquareRenovations continue at the Mason Square Branch Library! We are very excited about all the changes in store: a much larger selection of books, DVDs, and CDs to choose from, new furniture and carpeting, more computers, wireless access, and use of the Community Room for more programs and public meetings.

Installation of the new shelving, furniture and technology as well as other building renovations mean that temporarily there will be NO computer access at the Mason Square Branch Library. We apologize for any inconvenience that this may cause you. We are certain that the end result—a fabulous new branch with many more computers and wireless access—is worth the wait! You can still check out and return books, DVDs, and other library materials during this time.

The new Mason Square Branch Library sign is in place! Work on the roof is expected to start this month. All walls have been painted, perimeter shelving has been refinished, and new carpeting will be installed when renovations have been completed. Beautiful new furniture will be delivered and installed in mid/late March. Volunteers and staff are working on plans for a three-day Grand Reopening Celebration April 13-15! Details will be posted soon.

New Mason Square Sign!

A new sign was installed at the Mason Square Branch Library. Here is a link to our Facebook page that includes some photos of the installation process. Please take a look. You don't have to join Facebook to see them, but if you are, we hope you will "like" our page while you are there!

The Library will post updates on the progress of renovations at Mason Square Branch Library, next to the overall floor plan as designed by Stephen Jablonski Architects. Photos will be added soon and updated as well, as changes happen.
