On September 16, 2005, a group of nine librarians from the Republic of Kosovo visited the Brightwood Library. They were accompanied by Julie Hook Davies of the Institute of Training and Development in Amherst. The group chose to visit our branch because of its unique setting that combines a public library and public school sharing the same building.

The librarians employed at the National and University Library of Kosovo wanted to know about the cooperation and resource sharing between the two institutions. We provided them with a tour of the branch and the Chestnut Middle School.
They observed an orientation class by the school librarian and a computer class for grade 6 students. Later the School Principal, Ms.Lydia Martinez, welcomed them and emphasized the importance of having the public library and its resources so accessible to students and teachers.

We offered them some library souvenirs and they appreciated the different bookmarks and balloons with the library logo; all in all a very productive and interesting visit, enjoyed by our staff too!
