Traditional book groups - everyone reads and discusses the same book
New members are always welcome - please drop in!
1. The Noon Hour Book Discussion Group meets at noon on the second Tuesday of each month in the Community Room at the Central Library, 220 State Street. For more information, contact Chris Kasputis at 263-6828 ext. 442 or by e-mail at ckasputis@springfieldlibrary.org.
2. The East Forest Park Evening Book Group meets on the last Wednesday of each month from 6 - 7 pm at the East Forest Park Branch, 122 Island Pond Road.

1.The Wednesday Book Group meets on the second and fourth Wednesday of each month (schedule may vary slightly around the holidays) from 10 am until 12 noon in the Central Library at 220 State Street.

2. The East Springfield Book Group meets on the first Wednesday of each month at 12 noon at the East Springfield Branch Library, 21 Osborne Terrace.
In this informal roundtable, members talk about what they're reading and share recommendations in any genre. Join us and widen your book-reading horizons! For more information, contact the branch at 263-6840.
3. Urban Fiction Book Group Begins Tuesday, April 30, 6:30 pm at the Liberty Branch Library, 773 Liberty Street
Does Urban Fiction reflect the world you live in? Also known as “street lit,” Urban Fiction exposes readers to the gritty realities of modern street life in urban America. Meet other Urban Fiction readers and discuss your favorite street lit authors, Sistah Souljah, Wahida Clark, Tracy Brown, and Zane. Ages 18 and up, please. The group will continue on the last Tuesday of the month.
Craft Groups
Grab some yarn & needles and join us - newcomers always welcome

1. The Knit-Lits Group meets each Friday from 10:00 - 11:30 am at the East Springfield Branch Library, 21 Osborne Terrace.
New members are welcome and the current members are willing to teach knitting and crochet. This group works on individual and shared projects, and shares feedback on crafts-related books. For more information, call the branch at 263-6840.
2. The Knit-n-More Group meets every Thursday from 5 - 6:30 pm at the Forest Park Branch Library, 380 Belmont Avenue.
Knitters and crocheters are welcome. Volunteer Lynn will help beginners. Great for teens, adults and families. For more information, call the branch at 263-6843.
3. Knit-Alongs! meets every Wednesday from 1 - 2:30 pm at the East Forest Park Branch Library, 122 Island Pond Road.
Beginning and advanced knitters and crocheters are invited to share ideas and learn a new skill. Bring a knitting or crochet project you are currently working on. Complete beginner or clueless? Bring a ball of worsted weight yarn and a #4.5 or #5 crochet hook, or a pair of size 8 or 10 knitting needles and we will show you the basics. Projects for donating to area organizations will also be created. Advance registration is not necessary; call the Branch at 263-6836 for more information.
4. Stitching with Steven, 2nd & 4th Sundays, 2-3:30 pm, January thru May, 2013 at the Central Library, 220 State Street.
Stop in to see Steven's display of needlework in Wellman Hall, plus get a chance to ask him questions about crocheting and looming. All skill levels are welcome, from beginners to advanced. Basic guidance with knitting is also offered.
