1. Opening reading

Commissioner O'Connor.

2 . Welcome - Reggie Wilson, Branch Manager

Mr. Wilson welcomed the Commissioners to the Forest Park Branch Library, pointing out the nice new indoor paint job. He also noted how wonderful the exterior looks now that the construction is completed and the scaffolding has been removed.

3. Approval of Minutes from the December 5, 2007 Library Commission Meeting

Commissioner Toledo moved, with Commissioner Cary providing the second, to accept the minutes of the December 5, 2007 meeting of the Springfield Library Board of Commissioners.

The motion passed.

4. Library Advisory Committee Reports:

None.

5. Commission Sub-Committee Reports

Director Bader requested that the Commissioners consider electing a Vice-Chairman. Commissioner Cary volunteered to fill this position. Ms. O'Connor made a motion to nominate Mr. Cary for Vice-Chairman of the Springfield Library Commission. Mr. Toledo seconded the motion. All present voted in favor of Mr. Cary. The motion passed.

Ms. Bader stated that it is customary for the Commission to hold elections for officers in February.

6. Director's Report -

Library Commission Sub-Committees (Finance & Policy)

Traffic Commission Meeting

Ms. Bader reported that the letter from the Library Commission proposing parking changes near the Forest Park Branch Library will be presented on Monday, February 4th at the 1:30 p.m. meeting of the Traffic Commission.

Commissioner Moriarty volunteered to represent the Library Commission at that meeting, and plans to attend along with Ms. Bader.

Ms. Bader asked Commissioners to consider volunteering to be a member of the Library Commission Finance Committee or Policy Review Committee stating that the library's "Internet Policy" currently needs minor revisions. Mr. Moriarty and Mr. Cary agreed to be on the Policy Review Committee.

7 . Other Business

Commissioner Givens spoke about a recent discussion he had with new City Council member Pat Markey concerning a possible site for a new Mason Square Branch Library.

8. Adjournment:

It was moved by Commissioner Toledo and seconded by Commissioner Givens to adjourn.

The meeting was adjourned at 6:05 p.m.

The next meeting will be held on February 6, 2008 at 5:30 p.m. at the Indian Orchard Branch Library.
