Welcome to the Early Childhood Resource Center housed in the Children's Room at the Central Branch of the Springfield City Library! For more about the resources available for the Early Childhood community, click here.

The Early Childhood Resource Center (ECRC) is funded by the Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care (DECC). The ECRC consists of books and other resources especially appropriate for teachers and caregivers working with young children. The only thing you need to borrow these resources is a library card! Take a look!

All ECRC materials can be found by searching our library catalog. You can use the catalog as usual or try one of these special searches:

To see a list of all the materials, including books, in the ECRC collection do the following (or simply click on the links below):

Click on the Library Catalog link.
Under Other Searches, choose Number Searches.
Click on the Music Number tab.
Type ECRC in the search box.
A full list of ECRC materials will appear.

To get a list of puzzles, toys, puppets, kits, or equipment:

Click on the Library Catalog link.
Under Other Searches, choose Number Searches.
Click on the Dewey Call Number tab.
Type one of the following in the search box:

*J ECRC kit
*Jequip
*Jmanip
*Jpuppet
*Jpuzzle
*Jtoy

You will retrieve items from any Library that uses these call numbers. Note that the puzzles link will find other puzzle items not a part of ECRC.
ECRC puzzles will be tagged Springfield Main Juv ECRC.
